Neighborhood Safety Announcement

Published: December 13, 2023

As we enter the holiday season where package theft and other crimes increase, the Dallas Police Department and University Place Dallas HOA would like to recommend the following practices to help make for a safer community:

    1. Watch for neighbors with packages left on porches while away. If you know the neighbor, contact them to see if you can help store any packages left out for extended periods of time. If you don't know the neighbor, introduce yourself!
    2. Many of our neighbors have beautiful decorations and lights which can attract passersby to stop and look. However, if someone seems to circle too many times or is otherwise exhibiting suspicious behavior, report it to the Dallas Police Department.
    3. Report all types of crime to the Dallas Police Department. Data on crime activity helps the Department appropriately allocate resources.
    4. You can monitor crime of any type using communitycrimemap.com.

To contact the Dallas Police Department:

    1. For emergencies, please continue to call 911.
    2. Minor and/or past incidents, such as vehicle theft, can be reported on dallaspolice.net, which will guide the user as to whether it is appropriate to report online or must be called into 911.
    3. Minor incidents and monitoring can also be done via an app, iwatchdallas, found on iOS and Android or online at dallas.iwatch911.us. Pictures can also be uploaded to iwatchdallas for supporting evidence.

Together we can help ourselves, our neighbors, and our community to reduce crime and keep University Place one of the best places to call home in the metroplex.
